Siem Reap Pub Street

Siem Reap Nightlife

Pub Street Siem Reap is the definitive nightlife hub of the town, featuring rows of backpacker-friendly bars and pubs, packed nightclubs and international restaurants. A must-visit for any first-timer in the historical town, Pub Street stays open throughout the day and late into the night, sometimes until 04:00 and is best known for its US$0.50 draft beer offers.

The main road – Street 08 – is where you can find the iconic bars and clubs and the liveliest atmosphere. Running parallel to this, you’ll find Alley West and The Lane, both of which host elegant cocktail bars, quaint cafés, art galleries and souvenir shops. There are also ample dining venues in the area, catering to any budget and preference, as well as plenty of budget spa centres offering foot massages from US$2.

A five-minute stroll from Angkor Night Market, Pub Street is great for travellers looking to enjoy an eventful night of bar-hopping in Siem Reap. Best of all, the whole street is blocked to motorised vehicles from 17:00 onwards, making it safe for visitors to explore on foot at their leisure. Just beyond the pedestrianised zone, you will usually find plenty of tuk tuks waiting to give you a ride back to your hotel.

Most Popular Bars and Restaurants on Pub Street

Angkor What? Bar

Opened in 1998, this was the very first bar on Pub Street, but not the first bar in Siem Reap. It's still a very lively nightspot, with the traveller’s graffiti all over the walls. Thanks to its reputation, it is now frequented mostly by tourists who want to “do” Angkor What? at least once after a day at the temples. It gets loud and a bit raucous, but still a good place to meet people. Complete drinks menu, and pool table. Reasonable prices.

Cambodian BBQ

The name pretty much says it all – it’s a Cambodian barbecue, though they also have some more exotic meats available, such as crocodile, snake, ostrich and Kangaroo. Cooked over hot coals, the food has that real smoky barbecue flavour and is served with some tasty sauces, as well as free refills of rice, noodles and vegetables. Reasonable prices.

In Touch Restaurant & Bar

This place is a little different from your average Pub Street bar. They have live music in the upstairs bar, provided by a Filipino jazz band. The music starts at 20:30, and that’s when they get busy, with the upstairs bar being packed every night mainly with Asian tourists on group tours. They serve Thai and Cambodian food, Tiger Beer on draft, and have a complete drinks menu.

Le Tigre De Papier

Opened in 1999, this was one of the original restaurants on Pub Street. Western and Khmer dishes are featured, and a BBQ is cooked on your table top. Well-known for their wood-fired oven pizza, they have 24-hour delivery. Khmer cooking classes are offered so you can learn how to make the dishes on the menu. The owners have also opened an Indian restaurant on Pub Street called the Bengal Tiger.

A long-established name at the east end of Pub Street, The Soup Dragon serves more than just soup. There are also plenty of sandwiches, dumplings, grilled and barbecued meats and more. The Steamboat Soup is a popular option and consists of a clear broth with meat, vegetables, bean curd and meat balls, served in a clay pot over a portable stove. The restaurant, like most of the bars along this road, also sells Angkor draught beer for US$0.50.

The World Lounge

While its name would suggest a globe-spanning menu, World Lounge mostly specialises in pizzas and burgers. To be fair, they are widely regarded as the best pizzas in Siem Reap. There are a few oddballs to choose from, such as the crocodile burger and freshwater fish and chips, which uses fish fresh from Tonle Sap Lake. The food quality and service are generally above average, though the prices sometimes are, too.
