Dolphin Shack Beach Club
Dolphin Shack is probably the most popular beach bar in Sihanoukville, attracting big crowds of locals and backpackers every night. Open throughout the day, they have a full bar, plenty of special offers on drinks and special events like booze cruises and mud wrestling. It’s a crazy place to party and practically any night there is bound to create some memorable experiences.
Five Men Fresh Beer
Something rather different from the usual beer bar, Five Men is actually a beer hall similar to those famous in Germany. Relatively tame,m by Sihanoukville nightlife standards, they often close before midnight. However, they make beer on-site, including a lager and a stout. Ordered as “white” or “black” respectively, they come in an iced glass and are very easy to drink. If you’re fond of real ale, this is the place for you.
- Opening Hours: Daily 07:00 – 23:30
- Location: 19 Mithona Street, Independence Beach, Sihanoukville
JJ’s Playground Sessions
JJ’s is a late-night bar which doesn’t even really get going until after midnight. It is popular with backpackers for its cheap drinks and live DJs all night every night. There are also fire shows, different party themes every night and regular special parties (including full moon parties). JJ’s is really a cross between a nightclub and a beach bar, so expect a packed dance floor and loud House music until the early hours of the morning.
Maybe Later is not only an excellent Mexican restaurant, but is perhaps more renowned for its exceptional cocktails. With a staff of experienced western mixologists, the menu is full of creative, original and really potent concoctions, making it particularly popular with visitors and expats. Among the venue’s more unique features is the restroom, which is also known as the “Rambo Room” and is decorated as a shrine to Sylvester Stallone’s famous character.
- Opening Hours: Tue – Sun 12:00 – 24:00 (Closed Mon)
- Location: Serendipity Beach Road, Sihanoukville

Otres Corner Bar Sessions
As well as being the best and liveliest beach bar on Otres 1 Beach, Otres Corner hosts the largest monthly full moon parties. While they’re significantly smaller than the world-famous events on Thailand’s Koh Phangan, they are still very popular and a lot of fun. Expect live DJs, all-night cocktails from US$1.50 each, fire shows and more until the early morning. For the rest of the month, Otres Corner is actually quite peaceful, with movie nights, board game evenings and a generally relaxed vibe.
Otres is really more of a big selection of bars than it is a market. Styling itself as a “bizarre bazaar”, it has about 20 stalls, most of which sell food and snacks. The few that don’t specialise in crystals, essential oils, jewellery and other bohemian wares, which makes it one of the more unique markets in town. Especially popular with the backpacker crowd, it gets really busy after about 22:00, with live music and a general air of relaxation and socialising.
- Opening Hours: Sat 16:00 – late
- Location: Otres Village, Sihanoukville

Rocky Bar is one of the newer bars on Serendipity Beach, but has already made a name for itself among the backpacker community. It has a pretty similar format to Dolphin Bar (because, if you’re going to follow any example, it might as well be the best), with loud house and pop music, cheap booze by the bucket and both indoor and outdoor spaces, so you can have either a nightclub or beach club setting in once place.
Sessions stands out from the dozens of other beach bars along Serendipity Beach because of its choice of music, playing classic and indie rock (sometimes including live bands) instead of the usual dance and Top 40 hits. It is one of the longest-running bars in the area and is something of a Sihanoukville institution. There are plenty of great drinks offers available, including a daily happy hour from 16:00 to 21:00.
Utopia has been a trailblazer in the Sihanoukville nightlife scene for many years, and not always in a good way. They were the first to sell nitrous oxide (laughing gas), which is now banned. They now let backpackers stay in their dorm room accommodation for free, in return for distributing flyers. Aside from such radical practises, the bar is famous for its pool parties and extremely cheap drinks – US$0.25 each, during happy hour!
